Australia has become the pin-up of the New World of wine, and is a country that has broken free from the traditions and rules of the Old World. It is producing technologically innovative, consumer-orientated, internationally competitive, and above all, wonderful sun-drenched fruit-driven wines.
To celebrate Australia Day, Vinopolis will host an Australian wine feature on the Wine Tour offering visitors the opportunity to sample from a wide selection of Australian wines, focusing on Regional Heroes. Regional Heroes are wines and producers that have blazed a trail for their region’s profile with varietal choice and/or style dictated by who made them, where they were made, and why.
Visitors can experience the wine, history and heritage of Australian wines from a number of outstanding regions including the eponymous Barossa Valley Shiraz by Grant Burge or Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon by the legendary Petaluma and the new kids on the block (of vine, as it were!) that are wineries like Pirie Estate with their Tasmanian Pinot Noir or Hope Estate and their Hunter Valley Verdelho to name but a few.
During Australia Wine Fortnight, visitors to the Wine Tour can sample an additional 5 Australian wines and taste a genuine Aussie pie from Jumbucks. Only £5 upgrade with a valid tour ticket.
