About Oz Clarke
Vinopolis is delighted to welcome back celebrity wine connoisseur Oz Clarke for the 10th consecutive year. Oz Clarke is one of the world's leading wine experts whose formidable reputation is based on his extensive wine knowledge and accessible, no-nonsense approach - as seen in his recent television wine adventure with James May. Acknowledged as having one of the finest palates of anyone writing about wine today, Oz brings a refreshingly unorthodox wit and directness to the subject.

Before wine took over his life in 1984, Oz was a full time actor and singer, appearing in the West End hit shows such as Evita, Sweeney Todd and The Mitford Girls, and touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

About the Oz Clarke tasting:
Lasting for one hour, Oz will guide you through the fascinating world of wine, discovering its origins and history. Tasting five wines from across the globe, you will learn how to assess its appearance, smell and taste - just like the professionals. Every year Oz tastes thousands of wines for his 'Pocket Wine' and '250 Best Wines' books. In this session Oz will focus on 5 specially selected wines from his list of favourites in the new 'Oz Clarke Pocket Wine Guide 2009'. These include:

About Matt Skinner
This will be Matt's 3rd year at Vinopolis after an extremely popular and engaging debut in 2007. Matt Skinner is a wine writer, consultant, and educator well-known to international audiences for his refreshing take on wine, and knack for making it simple.
 
A strong believer that wine is for everyone, and that enjoying it is your right rather than your privilege, Matt, in recent times, has twice been short-listed for the IWSC International Communicator of the Year Award, is author of the awarded and international bestseller Thirsty Work (published in 17 countries and 10 languages) and continues to put together his annual guide, The Juice – 100 wines you should be drinking.

Day to day Matt consults to a small, yet perfectly formed group of clients around the world, makes regular contributions to Waitrose Food Illustrated (UK), GQ Australia and jamieoliver.com, and likes nothing more than uncrowded surf, and finding out he’s been upgraded at check in. While much of his time is spent on the road, Matt calls Melbourne, Australia home.
